EZVids is an early test version. This page explains in plain English what happens to your information. If anything here is unclear, ask us with the Feedback button at the top of EZVids, or email ezvids.help@gmail.com.
The short version
- Your videos are private to your account. Nobody else using EZVids can see them.
- We use a few trusted services to run EZVids (listed below). We don't sell your information, show ads, or use tracking or analytics cookies.
- You can delete your account and all your files at any time, from Account settings.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name and email address. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider (Supabase); EZVids never sees or stores your password.
- What you upload and make: your videos, photos and sounds, voiceovers you record, pictures you make with AI Images, the clips, projects and thumbnails you create, and the settings for each (captions, cuts, music and so on).
- Transcripts: the words spoken in your videos, with their timings, so we can find clips and add captions.
- Descriptions of your Media videos: a short sentence about what each video shows (for example "a drone shot over a beach"), so cutaway suggestions can match them.
- Stock footage you choose: if you use free stock footage, a copy is kept in your Media with the name of its creator.
- Feedback you send: your message, which part of EZVids you were on, and your browser's name, so we can follow it up.
- Usage counts: how many times you've used features that have plan limits (for example Clip Finder runs or assistant requests), and how much storage you use.
Where it's stored
- Your files are stored on our servers at Fly.io in London, UK.
- Your account (email address and sign-in details) is stored by Supabase, also in London, UK.
Who else handles it, and why
- OpenAI powers the AI features. We send it: the sound of your video (to write the transcript), the transcript and clip details (to find clips, for the editing assistant and for cutaway suggestions), a few still frames from your Media videos (to describe what they show), and for AI Images, the description you type and any picture you choose to start from (to make the picture). According to OpenAI's terms for businesses using its API, it doesn't use this to train its models, and it may keep it for up to 30 days to check for misuse before deleting it.
- Supabase runs sign-in: accounts, passwords and sign-in emails.
- Google, only if you choose "Continue with Google", to confirm who you are.
- Pixabay (or Pexels) provides free stock footage. When you search, our server sends it only the words you searched for, not anything about you.
- Fly.io hosts EZVids and stores your files.
Cookies and your browser
EZVids uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in. They can't be read by scripts on the page. If you untick "Remember me", they're removed when you close your browser; otherwise they last 30 days and renew while you use EZVids. Your browser also keeps a few preferences and your unsaved edits (in its own storage, on your device) so they survive a page refresh. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
- Your videos, clips, projects and settings are kept until you delete them, or delete your account.
- Clips you save to Media (the "Saved clips" list) are deleted after 7 days unless you protect them.
- When you delete your account, your account and your files are deleted from our server straight away. Copies may remain in our hosting provider's automatic backups for a few days, after which they're gone too.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to receive a copy of it. You can delete everything yourself in Account settings; for anything else, email ezvids.help@gmail.com or use the Feedback button at the top of EZVids. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
EZVids isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly keep information about them.
Changes to this page
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For bigger changes, we'll tell you in EZVids.
